We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ashraf Khan as Editor-in-Chief of the German Journal of Microbiology with Prof. Dr.Thierry NAAS. Dr. Khan has had a distinguished career as a microbiologist and brings to the journal the expertise and leadership that will undoubtedly help to elevate the journal to new heights.

Dr. Khan is a Senior Biomedical Research and Biological Product Assessment Service (SBRBPAS) expert in the Division of Microbiology at the FDA’s National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR). His research has made groundbreaking contributions to food safety, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, environmental biotechnology, and the microbial genetics of foodborne pathogens.
Dr. Khan is a highly productive researcher, having authored more than 118 peer-reviewed papers, as well as book chapters and technical reports. He also holds a position as an adjunct professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In addition to his academic role, he actively engages in important committees at the FDA, focusing on areas such as bacterial detection, microbiological method validation, and scientific achievement awards.
