About the topic:
This topic focuses on biopesticides and biocontrol agents. There is an urgent need for safe, effective alternatives to synthetic pesticides, especially in terms of human and environmental health. Many synthetic pesticides currently in use are not approved for organic farming, and the increasing resistance of pests to traditional pesticides highlights the need for novel products with new modes of action. Botanical pesticides, which are biodegradable, widely available, and cost-effective, are believed to be effective against a range of crop pests. However, many of these natural solutions likely function through mechanisms that are not yet fully understood. Given their potential, it is surprising that so few plant species have been developed for commercial use as biopesticides.
