GMPC Policy on Clinical Trials Registration

The clinical trial refers to any study in hospitals, studies involving pharmaceuticals, or all research involving participants that are classified randomly or grouped in the context of the intervention under assessment. GMPC Journals follow the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines.

Registration of clinical trials in one of the known public trial registries is recommended. Suitable databases that can be used to register clinical trials include clinicaltrials.gov, the EU Clinical Trials Register, and those listed by the World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform. Registration at or before the first patient enrollment is considered a condition of consideration for publication.

In randomized clinical trials, GMPC follows the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) checklist of information to include when reporting a randomized trial. Registration for the trial can be waived if the study protocol has been published before enrollment. In this case, citation of the published protocol is necessary.
